Former Construction Workers
DOE Former Worker Medical Screening Program -- www.hss.energy.gov/healthsafety/fwsp/formerworkermed/
Medical screening is provided to ALL former workers, both production and construction, for the Kansas City Plant. The legislative mandate for this program is the 1993 Defense Authorization Act (PL 102-484, Section 3162)
General medical screening is included (physical, blood tests, Xrasy, etc.) as well as tests for workers exposed to beryllium, asbestos or silica. The general tests are designed for conditions such as chronic respiratory diseases, hearing loss, liver and kidney problems and some forms of cancer. All test results are sent to your physician for determination of next steps.
Medical Screening Project is conducted by the Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR), part of the Building and Construction Trades Department of the AFL-CIO in partnership with Duke University Medical Center, University of Cincinnati Medical Center and Zenith Administrators.
